Should I be able to use this as a drop-in replacement on my existing PXE/TFTP setup?

Do I need to move to iPXE?

I get "Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(1,0)"

Your previous 0.27 release that you posted here worked out of the box for me.

May you plesase check what is size of ram disk parameter in kernel boot line?
Minimyth2 is compiled for generic 64bit arch so size of image is bigger by 20-25% only by this.
May you please try with ramdisk_size=192000.
From boot proces perspective gpxe nad ipxe are fully exchangable - so in boot area it should be drop-in replacement.
Minimyth2 however requires different location for conf and conf-rw directories. For network boot they should be on the same location like bootloader (gpxe.0/ipxe.0/pxelinux.0) file.
I will add this info to release notes.

Thanks. ramdisk_size=192000 makes the system boot.

Now I get:

Code: Select all
Dec 14 15:19:57 (none) local0.info minimyth: [init.d/conf] Trying to download minimyth.conf...
Dec 14 15:19:57 (none) local0.info minimyth: [init.d/conf] Can't download minimyth.conf. Will use buildd-in defaults...

But my TFTP server has no log entries for requests after kernel and rootfs.

How is the location different for conf and conf-rw? I already have those in the root TFTP directory alongside pxelinux.0.

(FWIW, my DHCP, TFTP and MythTV Backend are all on different IP addresses.)

Update: I enabled MM_DEBUG="yes", and now I see:

Code: Select all
+ /usr/bin/tftp -g -r /conf/nuc/minimyth.conf -l /etc/minimyth.d/minimyth.conf.remote 192.168.1.250
/etc/rc.d/init.d/conf: line 1: /usr/bin/tftp: not found

Warpme,

Looks like a great project. I hope you have time and effort to keep it alive. It is only and best solution for lightweight mythtv frontend for now.
I am sad that I have not time to update myth and move to minimyth2 at this time. Family issues goes first.

But I am glad that there is now a future to minimyth users.
Will follow this with intrest. And I will update as soon as I have time.
Thanks.

Warpme, I also pushed a git repo with a view to fixing compile issues, broken links etc.

Had it all working Myth0.26, Kern 3.10 etc etc and was looking to putting Myth0.27 there.

Having upgraded to Fedora19 wont build (texinfo issues with GCC).... banging my head currently trying to bring findutils upto 4.5.10 or master with the LNXBBC build system.

Unfortunately Pablo has extensive knowledge of embedded Linux and cross compiling and trivial fixes for him are using days for me.

So I was thinking its a bit pointless and may aswell use your gar.... but did not see a repository with the code.

Do you have available a repo I can fork and push back anything useful?

James

Oh, man, a maintained version of Minimyth in a public repo would be AWESOME.
