0.25.2 81, random breaks in recording playback

Post by bowmo » Sat Sep 08, 2012 8:36 pm

I'm experiencing random stops when I play recorded material. Video / Audio just stop, and after 10-20 seconds the screen is blanked.

The symptom appears both with mpeg2 encoded, and h264 encoded material.

The only way to get it back online, is restarting X from telnet session, or to reboot the minimyth machine

Is there anyone else that experience this? And have a fix?

Digged into log files.. It seems that it is the backend that is "dying" and stop responding. A restart of the frontend cures the problem though.. So it's a bit unclear if it realy is the backend that stops, or something else?

AAARGGHHH! never mind, just figured this out myself..

I have a restart of the backend each 15 minutes if there is no recordings going on, to help cure some problems with my dvb-s setup.. Of course it is THIS that creates my headaches.. as it only detect if I'm watching livetv or recording some stuff, before it restarts the backend.. And watching old recordings, i'm doing neither of the two things..

Bugger, used most of a saturday evening scratching my head over this particular fault..
