Remote stopped working after upgrade to 25.2-81

Post by broen » Mon Sep 17, 2012 6:42 am

After upgrading from 23.0-73b11 to 25.2-81 the remote no longer works. The receiver is a Tira-2 USB using driver 'tira' with a custom lircd.conf and lircrc. There is no output from irw, and mode2 doesn't seem to be installed to test the raw output form the device. Here are the relevant lines from minimyth.conf:

Code: Select all

MM_LIRC_AUTO_ENABLED='yes'
MM_LIRC_DRIVER='tira'
MM_LIRC_DEVICE='/dev/ttyUSB0'
MM_LIRC_IREXEC_ENABLED='yes'
MM_LIRC_FETCH_LIRCD_CONF='yes'
MM_LIRC_FETCH_LIRCRC='yes'
Any help is much appreciated.

Cheers,
Broen

Hi Broen,

You might try letting "driver" and "device" set to their defaults, "none" and "auto", respectively. Just set them =''. That often works for me.

Good luck.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to help. I also tried commenting the lines out completely, which likewise didn't help.

Here's the output from "grep lirc /var/log/messages":

Code: Select all

It's hard to tell if anything is missing.

Also, "ps -e | grep lirc" produces:

Code: Select all

Success! (Well, sort of...)

After killing off eventlircd, and restarting the standard lircd daemon (with "lircd -H tira -d /dev/ttyUSB0"), it works. Unfortunately, this will clearly not survive a reboot. It seems to be a problem with eventlircd?

Hi Broen,

It looks like your IR remote may need to be loaded without eventlirc. Whether or not that's the issue, the two references below are what I review when dealing with IR driver problems.

Good luck -- keep us posted on how it works out.
