Kernel unable to mount initrd

Post by louigi600 » Tue Oct 12, 2004 1:47 pm

I've hit a wierd problem that is afflicting only one of my test machines:

I get a kernel panic when it's time to mount the root. But the screen if full of errors before this complaining about a non existent address in CF device.

The device is ok and works fine if I set it up on the other box.

The only difference that the two boxes have it the compiler, usb host controller, syslinux and mkdosfs.

Working env Failing env
gcc 3.2.2 gcc 3.3.4
usb1 host controller usb2 host controller
syslinux 2.01 syslinux 2.10
mkdosfs 2.8 mkdosfs 2.10

has anyone had a similar problem ?

Regards
David

I tracked it to be a bug in version 2.10 of syslinux.
Have fun
