boot minimyth without a PXE enabled NIC

Post by rsdvd » Sun Feb 11, 2007 6:58 pm

Hi

I have build the GAR-minimyth for use on the S100 set-top box, but I cannot find a way to boot minimyth over the network becuase the NIC in this box does not have PXE.

I have tried several things to imitate the normal PXE process, but I have not found anyway so far.

I have local USB keys or DoM (Drive on Modules) but I would rather not install locally, I would prefer to keep minimyth on the tftp server.

If anyone has any brilliant ideas, I would be very greatful

Thanks in advance

Phil

You could always try something like http://grid-it.cnaf.infn.it/index.php?pxefloppy&type=1. It describes using a boot floppy to do a net boot on those systems that don't have a PXE boot ROM. Google and you might find other options too -- it took me all of a few seconds to find this site.
