failed to load kernel module w83627hf

Post by Schme76401 » Mon Apr 16, 2007 11:35 pm

I am trying to run the ram-0.20-25 release on a VIA CN700 & VIA VT8237R Plus Chipset.

When booting I get this error message:
error: failed to load kernel module: w83627hf

here is my /var/log/messages:

Is my hardware not supported? or is it a configuration issue?

What motherboard do you have?

What is the output of 'lspci -mn'?

What is the output of 'dmidecode -t baseboard'?

Do you know which sensor kernel module should be used for your motherboard?

Thank you for the information. I wish VIA and other VIA chipset based motherboard vendors would fill in the SMBIOS/DMI information correctly. Because they do not, there are collisions on motherboards with different hardware having the same SMBIOS/DMI information.

Anyway, I have made a change that should work around the problem. Essentially, init no longer fails when hardware associated with a kernel module is not present. The change is in the latest test release (0.20-26b1). Could you let me know whether or not it works around your problem?
