problem booting minimyth 0.4rc1

Post by scherer » Sat Mar 06, 2004 12:03 am

Hi all

I've been running minimyth 0.2 for a while, but now I need to upgrade because my backend has been upgrade to MythTV 0.14

I've got an EPIA-M 6000, which I was able to boot via PXE.

Unfortunately the any rootfs image later than 0.2 won't boot and the box just hangs after:

boot:
Loading bzImage...............

As soon as I swap the 0.4rc1 rootfs with the 0.2 it boots without problems.

Any ideas?

Regards,
Rene

Are you sure that's the message you see? This seems to indicate that it's hanging while downloading the kernel. BTW you switching the kernel as well as the minimyth image? There is a new kernel now.

Also, please post your pxeconfig file (probably named default). And it's always a good idea to test your RAM; I've had two bad simms lately.

I had a similar problem until I relealized that the complete file hadn't downloaded.

It took several download attempts and clearing my netscape cache to get it. (Very weird).

Yes, I first switch kernel image and rootfs and it didn't work. Only during the investigation of the problem I was using the new kernel and the old rootfs (which booted fine).

Here is my PXE config:

DEFAULT linux-ramdisk
DISPLAY messages
TIMEOUT 5
label linux-ramdisk
KERNEL bzImage
APPEND initrd=rootfs ramdisk_blocksize=4096 ramdisk=40000 LIRC=homebrew1 MYTHSERVER=192.168.1.12

The PXELINUX version is 1.62

According to my tftp server log, the client retrieves bzImage and rootfs.

Thanks,
Rene

I just downloaded both the kernel and cramfs image from the rc1 directory just to make sure there wasn't some corruption and they both worked fine on my me6000.

I'm grasping at straws now, I would suggest you try my pxelinux.0 file (http://linpvr.org/util/pxelinux.0).
