kernel panic loading rootfs on VirtualBox

Hi folks!

I got a little problem with minimyth, version 0.20.2-38.

I built up a little test bench to see if it would fit my needs.

Background:
Two VirtualBox machines on a Debian-Host, connected via internal networking. Server runs dhcp, atftp, myth-backend from debian-multimedia.org.
Client booting via pxe.

When the client tries to boot, it fetches the kernel and the rootfs and then panics:

Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(9,1)

My /tftpboot-Directory:

(I also had the ramdisk_size=64000, but no difference)

active contents of conf/mythclient/minimyth.conf:

Code: Select all

MM_MINIMYTH_BOOT_URL='nfs://10.0.0.1/tftpboot'
MM_X_MODE='800x600'
MM_MASTER_SERVER='10.0.0.1'
MM_SSH_REMOTE_ENABLED='yes'
MM_SSH_SERVER_ENABLED='yes'
What could be the problem? Any ideas? Btw: if i try the nfs-boot, it also panics after downloading the kernel, with a similar message... MD5 are ok.

Thanks a lot, hands up from Switzerland,
Edi

You appear to be missing the ramdisk_size boot line parameter: http://linpvr.org/minimyth/document-boo ... etwork-ram.

Hi Paolo!

Thank you for your fast reply. Unfortunately, I already tried it with ramdisk_size=64000 (as i wrote, but maybe I wrote too much ;)) , but it did not work. I removed the parameter to see if it works then...
