Problem starting X

I have a Jetway J7F5 motherboard with HDMI. I boot from a CF IDE adapter. All goes fine until start X. The 'X' cursor appears but in a few seconds disappears.

Any suggestion?

Since there is no problems with X indicated in /var/log/Xorg.0.0.log, I suspect the problem is with one of the applications are started by xinit. It is most likely mythfrontend.

If you telnet in as user 'minimyth' and run xinit, then you can see the output form the applications in the telnet window.

Here is xinit.log (and xinit-err.log). I found the problem "Couldn't find theme G.A.N.T" but 'Retro' is my theme as i say in minimyth.conf. What are i make wrong?

It appears that your hostname is not being set correctly.

What do you get when you type the command 'hostname'?

What do you think the hostname should be?

It is usually set by DHCP. How are you setting it?

Its true, the 'hostname' return '?'. I use the DHCP service of my ADSL modem. The another PC have the 'hostname' file at etc with the name assigned.
I don't know how to setup this!
Can I create an '/etc/hostname' file to setup the name on boot?

Sorry, Pablo. I just read the configuration documentation and I found the solution. At 'minimyth.con' i put MM_DHCP_HOST_NAME and MM_DHCP_DOMAIN_NAME and this was solve the problem.

I am glad that you have it working.

The MM_DHCP_* variables were added to overcome this sort of problem. Unfortunately, not all DHCP servers can be configured (either due to lack of support or lack of administrative control) to correctly return all DHCP options.
