Realtek rtl8111b/8111c r8169 driver

Hi,

I am having a problem with the relatek r8169 driver and minimyth ram 0.21.0-57.

I have two diskless minimyth frontends. One is a HP dc7600 which boots minimyth fine and the other is a ASUS P2-P5945GC . The Asus has a realtek integrated nic and I have checked the minimyth hardware requirements and the 8169 chipset is supported, but minimyth hangs on the starting dhclient stage on the minimyth splash screen.

I have run mythbuntu 8.10 and the lspci -v -v (posted below) indicates the nic is a realtek 81111b/8196b using the r8169 driver, so I can not understand why minimyth wont see the integrated nic.

Any help would be appreciated

It appears that support for this hardware is broken in 2.6.23, which is the kernel that is used in the MiniMyth binary. Apparently, it has been fixed in 2.6.26, which is in MiniMyth's SVN repository.

Unfortunately, the NVIDIA driver used in the MiniMyth binary does not compile with the 2.6.26 kernel and newer NVIDIA drivers do not support DPMS correctly.

I will include the 2.6.25 kernel in the next test build 59b3. Hopefully, that will work.
