boot hangs at "starting x"

Post by daschatten » Sat May 15, 2010 11:28 pm

Hi,

i upgraded my mythtv setup from 0.22 to 0.23, but my minimyth frontends (PXE + NFS) won't get after "starting x". A Cursor appears in the top left corner and then it just stays in this state. I can telnet on the frontends, but there's no error message in /var/log/minimyth.log or /var/log/messages or dmesg. And there's no Xorg.0.log. On the tftpd everything looks ok, just as with 0.22.

I disabled fetching xorg.conf for a frontend, but this didn't help.

What can be the problem here?

Thanks!

Finally i solved this, it was the old suid problem. I copied the files with cp in to the tftp server and not via rsync. With rsync it keeped the suid flags and now its working fine again :-)

Given the number of times that this problem has wasted user's time, I should really add an init check for it.
MiniMyth running on an Acer ApireRevo 3610 and a Zotac ZBOX-ID80-U. Find out more at my MythTV page.
