CIFS volumes mount, but images / videos dont play/display

Post by wankykootiepooper » Sun Dec 12, 2010 1:57 am

Hi.

I'm running 23.1-73. I can't seem to get my videos or pictures in my backend to play on minimyth.

I have my minimyth config set to mount my backend videos and pictures directory at their default mount points in minimyth. I can telnet in and see them there, for example:

root@mythtv195:~ # ls -al /mnt/video/
total 6436
drwxrwsr-x 2 107 111 0 Dec 11 17:38 .
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 100 Dec 11 17:39 ..
-rwxrwxrwx 1 107 111 6587020 Jan 12 2009 test.avi
root@mythtv195:~ #

So, I don't think there are any permission issues between minimyth and the server, but when I go through the minimyth menus to try to play this video, it gives me a message "no files found".

For the gallery, something similar occurs. The pictures show up in the minimyth mount:

root@mythtv195:~ # ls -al /mnt/gallery/
total 528
drwxr-xr-x 239 107 111 0 Dec 11 17:22 .
drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 100 Dec 11 17:39 ..
drwxrwx--- 2 107 111 0 Sep 13 2009 111 Grandma pics
-rwxrwx--- 1 107 111 329898 Jan 12 2009 PIX9999078.jpg

Here something different happens. The folders show up in the menu system in the minimyth, but it cannot find any pictures. The picture in root (in my example) shows in the menus, but will not display.

Again, I assume that the cifs file system is happy about permissions. There are no errors in the log on mounting problems. The log does complain about this:

I'm using Mythbuntu as my theme. Is this causing this?

My first thought is that you lack permission. User 107 and group 111 have permission to access the files but nobody else does. If that is the case, then you should be able to use MM_SECURITY_USER_MINIMYTH_UID='107' and MM_SECURITY_USER_MINIMYTH_GID='111' to make it work. Alternatively, you could give read access to other on the files.

Also, some time back there was a version of samba for RHEL / CentOS that would cause CIFS directory listing to succeed but file reads to fail. However, it was fixed quite some time ago.

Pablo,

That was it. I can now see everything in my server folders.

Thanks for your help and the excellent work on minimyth.

Eric.

I am glad that you were able to get it to work.
