Installing flashplayer/codecs during boot takes forever...

Post by Verzweifler » Wed Feb 16, 2011 9:25 am

Hi all,

on my 0.23.1-75 NFS installation, installation of both the flashplayer and the codecs seems to last forever. Well, ok, not forever, but flashplayer takes more than 2 minutes and codecs add another 2 minutes, so booting up my frontend is delayed by 4 minutes (with the splash just sitting there).
When checking the /var/log/messages, I do not see any indication for an error; it says something like "well, I am fetching the files and it will be place into blabla" and the timestamps also demonstrate that this action takes 2min...

Is this a usual behaviour? And if not, what did I do wrong? Any suggestions on where to look?

This sounds like an FTP client/server interaction. While I never saw delays this long, my FTP server definitely took longer than my HTTP server when downloading MiniMyth files, including the kernel, the root file systems, the codes tarball and the Adobe Flash Player library.
MiniMyth running on an Acer ApireRevo 3610 and a Zotac ZBOX-ID80-U. Find out more at my MythTV page.
