Minimyth-0.20-22 and the Asus Pundit P1-AH2 barebone

Post by ph0t0nix » Thu Apr 12, 2007 9:20 pm

I got ram-minimyth-0.20-22 working with the Asus Pundit P1-AH2 barebone. I inserted and AMD Athlon64 3500+ processor and one bar of 512MB DDR2-667 (I'm still having unsolved crashes and squashfs errors when using two 512 MB bars). 128MB was allocated to the graphics chip.
This Pundit uses almost the same chipsets as the Asus M2NPV-VM and the A8N-VM CSM.
I'm using my PAL TV and analog sound for stereo output and the optical SPDIF output for 5.1 sound. I still have problems with getting analog 5.1 sound to work like many other people with these motherboards. Thanks Pablo for the recent ALSA version!
This is the output of lspci:

The standard options for X and TV output didn't work. X complained about a wrong mode (the one commented out below), so I edited the xorg.conf generated with the above minimyth.conf options.
These are the relevant sections:

I needed to increase the TVOverScan valoue from 0.0 to 0.5 for a full TV screen.

Hi ph0t0nix,

I am also interested in purchasing this Barebone.
I would like to make it my mythtv backend.

2 question i have:

I want to put 2 tuners inside.

1x PVR350
1x SS2

The PVR350 is a little long, would it still fit in the case?

Also i would like to position it horizontal instead of vertically. Is this possible and if so could you provide me the measurements in centimeter? Im from holland and i guess you are to seeing your timezone in your config file, so centimeters shouldn't be a problem for you :).

Thx,

nrg

I'm not using any PCI cards in my Pundit, so I cannot tell you for sure whether it will fit. I found stories on the internet for older pundits that show that a PVR350 will fit if you bend the metal a bit when inserting the card.
The distance from the PCI slot bracket to the processor cooler is approximately 17cm for the lower PCI slot and about 17.5 cm for the upper one. The distance between the back of the PCI slot and the processor cooler is 5cm.
I also have a Pundit-R (with ATI IXP200/RS300 chipset for intel processor. Don't buy that one. ATI's videodriver support is shit. TVout with XV has been broken for a long time in the fglrx driver. You only see the upper 2/3 of the screen. This may be resolved in newr drivers, but these don't support the 9100 videochip.). I measured the PCI slot - cpu cooler distance on this one as well. IT seems that the distances are about 5 mm shorter than the newer Pundit AH2. The distance from the back of the PCI slot to CPU fan is 4.6mm in the Pundit-R.

When placing the Pundit horizontally you can remove the foot stand. It will leave a metal plate visible (which only matters in an open AV rack, I think). The height is 8.9cm and the width is 27.4cm.

Hope that helps!
