Hi,
based on the announcement I'm trying to locate the test build with the latest nvidia driver (180.51), but can't find any. Is there a 'secret' location?

For test builds, I do not tend to build the different combinations created by 4 different NVIDIA drivers and 3 different MythTV versions (not to mention the x86_32 and x86_64 versions). Unless I feel there is a specific need to test something not in the default test build or someone requests a test build in order to test something, I just build the default test build.

By the way, is there something that you are hoping the newer NVIDIA drivers might fix/improve? If so, then I can build a test release with either the latest official ( 180.51 ), pre-release ( 180.53 ) or beta ( 185.18.08 ), depending on which NVIDIA driver you believe might provide the fix/improvement.

Yes please, I would appreciate and test both the beta and the latest release if you build versions for amd64. I have been running into video and audio problems but only wtih vdpau and mplayer. I have been trying to build and patch my own vdpau players and nv drivers, and I am just going aroud in circles here.

I tested both builds and I have my detailed notes at the end here, but first some general comments. Pablo, thank you so much, both builds made more and more movies play. Also I was running on a 32 bit kernel previously ( no other build available ) and when you released the 64 bit version even without VDPAU I can almost play some of these movies well enough to be happy. I didn't think a 32 bit kernel would make much difference but it does if you are not using hardware acceleration.

With previous vdpau versions I have had lots of crashing and also movies that play will not play every time. I needed to keep restarting the player until they would start. So far this behavior is completely gone. I have seen no crashes so far either...

The one file I cannot play at all in mplayer, plays OK in xine but no sound. I cannot get sound whatever I do. This movie is 'sunshine'. Anyone? In mplayer there is no video at all either with or w/o vdpau.

Sunshine:

With previous vdpau versions I have had lots of crashing and also movies that play will not play every time. I needed to keep restarting the player until they would start. So far this behavior is completely gone. I have seen no crashes so far either...

The one file I cannot play at all in mplayer, plays OK in xine but no sound. I cannot get sound whatever I do. This movie is 'sunshine'. Anyone? In mplayer there is no video at all either with or w/o vdpau.

Sunshine:

For AVI files, try to force non-interleaved mode with the -ni option.

Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. Details in DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports_what.html#bugreports_crash.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen.
It can be a bug in the MPlayer code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your
gcc version. If you think it's MPlayer's fault, please read
DOCS/HTML/en/bugreports.html and follow the instructions there. We can't and
won't help unless you provide this information when reporting a possible bug.
However there was audio. With vdpau it plays past this point but the video is messed up.
With nfs-minimyth-0.21.0-67b5-nvidia.185.18.08-x86_64
Prince caspian works vdpau.
Tinkerbell works with vdpau.
