For Those Running MythTV 0.25, What External Players are Req

MiniMyth includes MPlayer, VLC and Xine in order to allow people to work around shortcomings in MythTV's audio/video playback. However, they increase the size of the image, so I would like to know whether or not anyone using MythTV 0.25 needs MPlayer, VLC of Xine.

Personally I have to encode all my media to a format all of my other players can use, therefore I've not touched an external player in years.

I used to use mplayer for any avi files I had in mythgallery but 0.25 allows the internal player for these so it's a "none" for me too now.

Up 'till a week ago, I was using 0.23, and in there, the internal player didn't appear to support HW acceleration, isos, or subtitles. With my recent upgrade to 0.25, those issues have been fixed, and so I haven't needed to use mplayer like I did in 0.23. That said, it would be good to have mplayer around as an "emergency backup" for that rare occasion that the internal player croaked on something.

I agree that. But I am still using 0.24, so this does not concern me. Has mythtv 0.25 still option for alternative player? If so, mplayer is good to be configured there for "backup".
0.24 lacks some dvd images, so I use xine for that.

Never used vlc.
